I’m not even exaggerating.
My sister-in-law made this for a family gathering one time, and I completely lost control. 😂
I told myself:
“Just one little bite.”
Then another.
And another.
And before I knew it, I was standing next to the dish wondering where the rest of it had gone.
The problem is…
I know myself. 😂
If I make this at home, I already know exactly what will happen.
I’ll tell myself I’m saving some for tomorrow.
Then I’ll walk past the kitchen.
Take one bite.
Then another.
And suddenly…
IT’S GONE.
There is just something about the combination of crispy edges, creamy filling, savory flavor, and melted cheese that makes this incredibly difficult to resist.
And the best part?
It’s surprisingly simple to make.

🛒 INGREDIENTS
For the filling:
- 500 g cooked shredded chicken
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup cream cheese
- ½ cup finely chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Salt to taste
For the outside:
- 8–10 small tortillas or thin flatbreads
- 1–2 tablespoons melted butter or olive oil
Optional additions:
- Chopped parsley
- Green onions
- Chili flakes
- Diced jalapeño
- A little grated cheddar
- Fresh herbs
👩🍳 HOW TO MAKE IT
Step 1 — Prepare the chicken
If you’re starting with raw chicken, cook it thoroughly until the internal temperature reaches 74°C / 165°F.
Allow it to cool slightly.
Then shred it using two forks.
You want small, tender pieces that will mix easily with the creamy filling.
🧅 Step 2 — Cook the onions
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add the finely chopped onion.
Cook until soft and lightly golden.
Add the garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper.
Stir everything together.
The aroma will already be incredible.
🥣 Step 3 — Make the creamy filling
Add the shredded chicken to the skillet.
Lower the heat.
Add the cream cheese.
Stir until the cream cheese melts and coats the chicken.
Then add the shredded mozzarella.
Mix until everything becomes creamy and well combined.
Taste and adjust the seasoning.
🌯 Step 4 — Fill the tortillas
Place one tortilla on a clean surface.
Add a generous spoonful of the chicken-and-cheese mixture to the center.
Don’t overfill it.
Fold the sides inward and roll tightly.
Repeat with the remaining tortillas.
🔥 METHOD 1 — SKILLET
Heat a clean skillet over medium heat.
Brush the outside of each roll lightly with melted butter or olive oil.
Place them seam-side down in the skillet.
Cook until golden and crispy.
Turn carefully and brown the other side.
You want:
Golden outside + warm creamy center + melted cheese.
🔥 METHOD 2 — OVEN
Preheat your oven to 200°C / 400°F.
Arrange the filled rolls on a baking sheet.
Lightly brush the tops with melted butter or olive oil.
Bake for approximately 15–20 minutes, turning once if needed.
Remove when golden and crispy.
🌬️ METHOD 3 — AIR FRYER
Preheat your air fryer according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Place the rolls in a single layer.
Lightly brush or spray them with oil.
Cook until golden and crispy, turning halfway through.
Avoid overcrowding the basket so the hot air can circulate properly.
🥣 THE PERFECT SAUCES
This recipe is delicious by itself, but dipping sauces make it even more fun.
Try:
🧄 Garlic yogurt sauce
🌶️ Spicy salsa
🥑 Avocado sauce
🍅 Tomato salsa
🥛 Ranch-style dressing
🌿 Herb yogurt
🌶️ Hot sauce
For parties, put several sauces on the table.
That’s when things get dangerous. 😂
📖 A LITTLE HISTORY
Stuffed and rolled breads have been part of home cooking in many cultures for generations.
The basic concept is simple:
Take a thin bread or flatbread, fill it with something flavorful, roll or fold it, and cook it until the outside becomes golden and crisp.
Different cultures have created their own versions using meat, vegetables, cheese, beans, herbs, and spices.
These recipes became popular partly because they were practical.
Small amounts of filling could be turned into a satisfying meal by wrapping them in bread.
And today, the same idea remains popular because it’s easy, versatile, and perfect for sharing.
❤️ WHY THIS RECIPE IS SO SATISFYING
There are several things happening in every bite.

The cheese melts.
The cream cheese creates a rich texture.
The chicken provides savory flavor and protein.
The onions add sweetness.
And the spices bring everything together.
It’s that combination of crunchy + creamy + savory that makes it so hard to stop eating.

👩🍳 MY BEST TIPS
Don’t overfill
Too much filling can cause the rolls to split while cooking.
Seal them well
Place the seam underneath when cooking.
Use medium heat
This allows the outside to become golden while the inside heats through.
Don’t overcrowd the pan
Give each piece room to crisp.
Serve immediately
They’re at their best while warm and crispy.
🥰 WHY I UNDERSTAND WHY MY SISTER-IN-LAW MAKES THESE
Some recipes aren’t complicated.
They just have that magical combination of textures and flavors that makes everyone reach for another piece.
That’s exactly what happened the first time I tried these.
I thought I could control myself.
I couldn’t. 😂
And now I understand why she always makes a big batch.
Because one batch is never enough.
🌹 FINAL THOUGHTS
If you make this recipe, don’t make the mistake I made.
Don’t stand next to the plate.
Because before you know it, you’ll be saying:
“Okay… just one more.”
And then you’ll look down and realize you’ve eaten half the plate. 😂
The crispy outside.
The creamy chicken filling.
The melted cheese.
The golden edges.
The savory seasoning.
Everything comes together in one ridiculously satisfying bite.
It’s the kind of recipe that makes people ask:
“Who made this?”
And then:
“Can I have the recipe?”
So save it now, because I have a feeling you’ll be making it again.
